In 1963, a licensing agent named Stan Weston approached Don Levine, a creative director working for Hasbro. Weston presented a toy specifically marketed for boys that was inspired by three things: A television show called The Lieutenant, the very popular Barbie doll, and the tiny wooden models used by aspiring painters and sculptors too poor to afford the live version. Levine was interested, although Hasbro insisted that they call the new toy an "action figure" since few people would be inclined to buy dolls for little boys.
The G.I. Joe line originally included Rocky (the soldier/marine), Skip (the sailor), and Ace (the pilot). All three made their debut at the 1964 International Toy Fair in New York City. Those originals measured just shy of 12 inches tall. Hasbro aggressively advertised the fact that each figure was equipped with 21 separate moving parts. Two million G.I. Joes sold in the first year alone--and various G.I. Joe incarnations have enjoyed brisk sales ever since.
JoJo Designs' Camo Green collection will definitely make all visitors stand and salute. This package of soft and durable 100% cotton bedding and matching accessories will fully outfit your little soldier's nursery without inflicting any damage on your bank balance.
Classic green camo reigns supreme here, interspersed with khaki. The fully reversible and machine washable camo quilt is topped with a broad width of beige solid, punctuated with a line of five pointed camo star appliques. The rough and ready blanket's flip side is solid beige.
A very resilient wrap around bumper repeats the camo pattern. It is topped with a generous width of solid beige, dotted with slightly smaller stars. The entire piece is backed with the same pattern and finished with camo ties. A gently gathered camo dust ruffle is trimmed with the beige fabric, which includes evenly spaced star appliquôs. A well fitted beige sheet completes the linen group.
At ease, little soldier.
