Sailboat appliques in an array of sizes drift merrily across the blanket's skillfully patchworked center. Smaller boats are spaced evenly around the white border. All are accentuated with detailed outline quilting.

The four sectioned bumpers of a figured white print also feature sailboats. These are interspersed with appliques of anchors and repeat the expertly pieced mariner's compasses present in the quilt. Each portion is backed with azure and white striped cotton and piped with a breezy coordinated plaid of gold, blue, green, red and white, which is also used for the gently gathered dust ruffle.
