Toile originated in France in the late 1700s. It depicts ornately rendered scenes of bygone country life etched on white fabric. The material's hefty price tag kept it out of the hands of ordinary people for several centuries, and it was subsequently relegated to the stately homes of the wrinkled aristocracy...until about ten years ago.
In the late 1990s, a sudden and robust resurgence of interest in toile took the U.S. by storm. This new generation of enthusiasts love toile's ability to create a room that is feminine, elegant, and very tranquil. It's no big surprise that toile ensembles now adorn the rooms of many very lucky little girls.
Jo Jo Designs' enchanting Pink and Brown Toile collection mixes 100% cotton fabrics with soft and cuddly chenille. Here pink toile is combined with a very homey brown and pink dot print, certain to appeal to decorators who are less than enthused by the ultra-prim feel of ensembles that employ toile exclusively.
The quilt's center features a wide field of toile framed with the energetic dot print. Satin bows adorn each corner, in keeping with this boutique quality bedding set's close attention to detail. The luxuriously soft blanket is bordered with a width of pink chenille, which enhances its pronouncedly cozy ambiance.
A single bumper repeats the quilt's pattern, interspersing toile with narrower bands of the dot print and chenille respectively. The piece is piped with the dot print and finished with matching ties. A gently gathered toile dust ruffle is also trimmed with widths of the dot print and chenille. Chocolate satin bows appear on both the right and left hand sides. A fitted toile sheet completes the linen group.
