The Scandinavian opinion was no better: Swedes thought that dragonflies were used by the devil to weigh people's souls, and their Norwegian name literally means "eye poker". In the Southern U.S. they were believed to help wounded snakes and unfairly earned the name "snake doctors."At last the bad old days are behind the noble dragonfly. The wings of each dragonfly are traced with metallic thread, capturing the iridescent quality of the actual insect. This scene is framed with a narrow gold band and finished with widths of snuggly white chenille.
The wrap around bumper repeats the quilt's pattern. The piece is backed and piped with pink and finished with matching ties. Dragonfly appliqués are evenly spaced across the gently gathered pink dust ruffle, which is trimmed with gold. A fitted pink sheet completes the linen group.
