Dorian "Doc" Paskowitz was born in Galveston, Texas in 1921, but claims his life truly began when his uncle carried him into the gulf's waters and taught him to swim. By his early teens, Dorian was riding the waves on homemade surfboards fashioned from scrap lumber.

Paskowitz was an exceptional student. He attended Stanford Medical School, graduating in 1946. He moved to what was then the territory of Hawaii, where he quickly became the head of the local chapter of the American Medical Association. He surfed in his scant free time.

Money was plentiful. Happiness was not. Forced to examine his life, Doc decided to quit working and surf full time, picking up odd jobs when he had to. He met his wife Juliette soon thereafter. Together they home-schooled their nine children in a series of second-hand campers as they roamed America's beaches. Along the way, Doc delivered each of his kids, and fixed up battered surfers for free. As of this writing, he is eighty-eight years old--and still surfs. A critically-acclaimed 2008 documentary entitled Surfwise tells the Paskowitz family story. A biopic is in the works.

Four separate leaf print bumpers are backed with the surfboard design. Each piece is piped with solid dark blue and finished with matching ties. A navy blue box-pleated skirt is trimmed with widths of solid orange and light blue respectively. A light blue cotton jersey sheet completes the group.
